OAK BROOK - The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce honored DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin today with the Chamber’s Denny Hiffman Inspiring Leader Award at its annual Leadership Luncheon Award Ceremony held this afternoon at the Oak Brook Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. The Chamber recognized Berlin for his yearslong aggressive protection of area retailers and shoppers from organized retail theft and violent criminals as well as his efforts that proved to be instrumental in amending the State’s new Safe-T-Act. ., Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber and Denny Hiffman presented the award to Berlin in front of approximately one hundred and fifty attendees including more than a dozen elected officials as well as leaders in the Oak Brook and Oak Brook Terrace communities.

“I am truly honored to accept this award on behalf of my entire office,” Berlin said. “The Oak Brook area is a major economic engine not only for DuPage County, but for the entire state of Illinois. To keep that engine running smoothly, it is my job as State’s Attorney to ensure the safety of our business establishments and their employees as well as all those who visit and do business in the Oak Brook area. Public safety however, is a collaborative effort. The support my office receives from the Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace Police Departments, the Village of Oak Brook and the city of Oakbrook Terrace, business leaders and the entire community is extraordinary and for that I thank them. Our mutual commitment to public safety is vital to not only our economic success, but also the quality of life enjoyed by our residents. I thank the Chamber for this recognition, particularly President David Carlin, Chairman Finny Rajchel, Oak Brook Village President Larry Herman and Oakbrook Terrace Mayor Paul Esposito.”

“Over the years, State’s Attorney Berlin has time and time again proven himself to be not only a great supporter of the Chamber and our mission, but also a friend,” said David Carlin, President and CEO of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce. “It gives me, and the entire Chamber, great pleasure to present State’s Attorney Berlin with this year’s Denny Hiffman Inspiring Leader Award in recognition of his ongoing efforts in protecting our business community as well as our neighborhoods.”

This is the second year the Chamber has honored an individual with the Denny Hiffman Inspiring Leader Award. Last year’s recipient of the Award was Dennis Hiffman, founder of NAI Hiffman and Hiffman National, for whom the award is named. The Denny Hiffman Inspiring Leader Award recognizes a business leader in the Oak Brook and Oakbrook area who has significantly impacted the business community through commerce, volunteer and mentorship programs.
