DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert “Bob” Berlin provides opening remarks at the Family Violence Coordinating Council’s “Communicate to Connect” training.

WHEATON - On October 28, as a part of the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office’s recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert “Bob” Berlin provided opening remarks for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court’s Family Violence Coordinating Council’s (FVCC) training titled “Communicate to Connect.”

The training was practical and focused on communication and de-escalation skills for professionals working with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. The seminar was led by Mike Drugan, a retired DuPage County Sheriff’s Detective who served the agency for 28 years in multiple assignments and was widely recognized for leadership in investigating interpersonal violence and complex criminal cases. In 1997 he founded the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit and spent more than two decades investigating intimate‑partner violence, sexual assault, child exploitation, and homicide.

The FVCC provides professional education and community awareness on domestic violence related issues.

Thank you to Mike Drugan, for the excellent presentation, to the entire FVCC including the Honorable Judge Ann Celine Walsh, who serves as FVCC chair, and to all who attended the training.
